Athlete of the Month: October 2018
A long time -- and loyal -- member of Windy City's morning crew... "Blutter" is long overdue for this honor. Most weekdays, you can find Steven engaged in the 5:30am class...sometimes with his own unique spin on the workout...but always engaged, always moving, always getting better. A true inspiration, we couldn't be more excited to feature Steve and his story. We hope you enjoy it -- and him -- as much as we do!
Nickname: "Blutter" is what all my friends have been calling me forever.

How has training at Windy City helped you?
I’ve been a classes guy for about 35 years. Windy City’s approach to CrossFit is the best workout protocol I’ve ever encountered. I love the balance of strength, endurance, skills, adequate rest/recovery and nutrition.
What does training here mean to you in your life?
Daily structure. I know I’m going to eat right, sleep well, get up early and have an energized day! I’ve been eating well for a long time, but knowing I’m going in 6 days a week has caused me to amp that piece up a click or 2.
What adventures, events, trips, races do you have planned?
A month in France next spring, which is my business’ slow season. We’ll be walking for hours a day and always do a morning workout. M’lady’s yoga sessions are tough!
What would you do and where would you go if time / money were not object?
A deeper engagement with charitable work. I’m happy with my daily life as it is.
Fitness: At nearly 65 yrs old, maintaining strength, flexibility, endurance, no injuries are obvious priorities – but an occasional PR is nice too! also really appreciate the fabulous coaches that help me modify for age creatively.
Professionally: As a health insurance broker in a time when the sector is under siege from many angles, my goal is to continue to guide the 100’s of people, families and businesses that need great policies. Making sure they understand it all so they can use the insurance to their best advantage for their medical issues and needs affordably is my goal.
Personal: Deepen my relationships with family, friends – and my amazing lady.
Something that most people don’t know about me:
With encouragement from my incredible parents I started doing photography when I was about 7 yrs old. It continues to be my passion and art. I have some collections on Flickr – take a look!
